Laurie Guyon is a TOSA Integration Specialist for Schuylerville Central Schools in New York. Prior to taking on this role, Laurie taught sixth grade ELA. Three years ago, Laurie had the opportunity to pilot a 1:1 iPad initiative which started her path to learn how to use technology effectively in the classroom. Excited by the initial growth and opportunity the iPads brought, Laurie has researched, explored, and hosted courses on best practices for integration. She built a strong personal learning network through Twitter and Google+ to keep up to date on new and innovative apps and websites. Along with being a Recap Pioneer, Laurie is a Teacher Leader with the EdTech Team, teacher innovator for Amazon Inspire, Google Educator, Apple Teacher, and a Nearpod PionNear. Laurie has written as a guest blogger for the EdTechTeam, and has presented at various conferences including NERIC Tech Awareness Day and NYSCATE. Laurie believes that technology integration has opened up new opportunities for students. Students can learn in ways that meet their individual needs, at their pace, and in their own way, when technology is used effectively. Apps like Recap allow for student reflection and voice, which are key components for student success. Laurie’s motto is to smile, and lead with kindness, always.
